Jayhawks History
The University of Kansas, established in 1865, is a prominent institution in the Midwest. Its athletic programs, known as the Jayhawks, operate independently of state or tuition funding.
Jayhawks Football
Kansas’ football program, established in 1890, competes in the Big 12 Conference. The team has appeared in 12 bowl games, winning six, with notable success in the Orange Bowl in 2008.
Big Jay and Baby Jay
Kansas has two costumed mascots: Big Jay, the larger, spirited mascot, and Baby Jay, his smaller and equally energetic companion. Together, they bring energy to games and events.
