Buffalo History
University of Colorado Boulder, founded in 1876, is known for its strong academic programs and athletic prowess. The Buffaloes, or “Buffs,” compete in the Pac-12 Conference. The university’s sports programs are self-sustaining, with funding primarily coming from ticket sales, media rights, and sponsorships.
Buffalo Football
The Colorado Buffaloes have a proud football history, including a National Championship in 1990. With over 120 years of football tradition, the team has appeared in 30 bowl games, winning 13. Notable players such as Darian Hagan and Rashaan Salaam, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1994, have contributed to the school’s football legacy.
Ralphie
Ralphie, the live buffalo, is the mascot for the University of Colorado. Ralphie leads the team onto the field at home football games, running at full speed around the track as the crowd roars. The buffalo represents the strength and spirit of the university, and Ralphie’s tradition has been a beloved part of the Colorado football experience for decades.
