Golden Bears History

The University of California, Berkeley, founded in 1868, is one of the most prestigious public universities in the world. Its athletic programs, known as the Golden Bears, are self-sustaining.

Golden Bears Football

Cal’s football program, established in 1886, competes in the Pac-12 Conference. The Bears claim five national championships (all pre-1938) and have appeared in 25 bowl games, winning 12. Notable players include Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch.

Oski, Cal’s beloved costumed bear mascot, has represented the university since 1941. Known for his quirky personality, Oski is a fan favorite at games and events.
