The University of Louisville, established in 1798, is a leading public research university. Its athletic programs, known as the Cardinals, are independently funded.

Cardinals Football

Louisville’s football program, established in 1912, competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Cardinals have appeared in 25 bowl games, winning 12. The team has produced notable players like Lamar Jackson, the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner.

Louie the Cardinal

Louie the Cardinal, Louisville’s costumed mascot, represents the team’s determination and energy. He’s a fan favorite at games and community events.
