Tigers History

Auburn University, established in 1856, boasts a long history of athletic success. The Tigers’ athletic programs are funded through self-generated revenue, including ticket sales and corporate partnerships.

Tigers Football

Auburn football, founded in 1892, is a powerhouse in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team claims two national championships, in 1957 and 2010, and has participated in 46 bowl games, winning 24. Legendary coaches include Shug Jordan, Pat Dye, and Gus Malzahn.

War Eagle

Auburn’s live mascot is a golden eagle, representing the War Eagle battle cry. The tradition dates back to the 1890s and continues to inspire fans. The current eagle, Aurea, participates in pre-game flights at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Aubie

a costumed tiger mascot, made his debut in 1979. Aubie is a fan favorite, known for his playful antics and engaging personality. He has won multiple national mascot championships and embodies the heart and spirit of Auburn’s community.
