Blue Devils History

Duke University, founded in 1838, is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. The athletic programs, known as the Blue Devils, are funded through independent revenue streams.

Blue Devils Football

Duke’s football program, established in 1888, competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Blue Devils have appeared in 15 bowl games, winning seven. The program has seen success under coaches like Wallace Wade and David Cutcliffe.

The Blue Devil

Duke’s mascot, The Blue Devil, is a costumed figure inspired by the French military unit “Les Diables Bleus.” He rallies fans and adds excitement to games.
