
Razorback History
The University of Arkansas was founded as Arkansas Industrial University in 1871, classes were first held in 1872, with its present name adopted in 1899. The University of Arkansas prides itself that all the sports programs are funded by revenue generated by the sports programs themselves meaning neither student tuition fees nor state taxes pay for the athletic programs.

Hogs Football
The University of Arkansas claims it won the 1964 National Championship in football. Arkansas has been playing college football for 119 seasons all in the (SEC) Southeastern Conference and the now defunct (SWC) Southwest Conference. Arkansas has played in a total of 44 post season bowl game, winning 16 of those. The Razorbacks boast 58 first team All-American football players. Notable coaches include Frank Broyles, Lou Holtz, Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino.

Tusk
The Arkansas Razorbacks’ mascot is a Russian boar bred and cared for by the Stokes family. The current mascot, Tusk VI, is the sixth family mber to serve as a mascot. Wold hogs called razorbacks that reside in the Arkansas wilderness are angry, muscular feral animals. These wild hogs would fight and kill any animal that came near it.
