Vanderbilt University, founded in 1873, is a private research university in Nashville, Tennessee. Its athletic programs, known as the Commodores, are funded through sports revenue.

Vanderbilt’s football program, established in 1890, competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Though not traditionally a powerhouse, Vanderbilt prides itself on producing well-rounded student-athletes.

Mr. C, Vanderbilt’s costumed mascot, represents a naval commodore. His dapper appearance and energetic personality rally fans at games and events.
