Kirby & Kalen

This is a matchup between two undefeated SEC powers, and after what both teams accomplished Saturday, it is difficult to find much separation between them. But if I had to pick the team most likely to win right now, I would give Alabama a slight edge.

Alabama is hitting its stride Alabama enters the matchup at 5–0 overall and 3–0 in SEC play after an impressive 56–23 road victory over No. 16 Mississippi State.

The Crimson Tide did not simply survive one of the SEC's better teams. Alabama dominated.

The Tide produced 483 total yards, including 179 rushing yards, while quarterback Keelon Russell accounted for 301 total yards and four touchdowns. He threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while also running for a score.

Perhaps most impressive was Alabama's consistency. The Tide scored 14 points in every quarter, turning a competitive matchup into a 33-point victory.

That is the kind of performance that gets the attention of the rest of the SEC.

Georgia is just as dangerous Georgia has an equally impressive résumé.

The Bulldogs are 5–0 and 3–0 in the SEC after defeating Vanderbilt 38–14 on Saturday. Georgia's offense produced 471 total yards, including 295 passing yards and 176 rushing yards. Quarterback Gunner Stockton threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Georgia has also been extremely consistent.

Through five games, the Bulldogs have scored 257 points, the second-highest five-game scoring total in school history.

And unlike Alabama, Georgia has the advantage of having played this game at an extremely high level under Kirby Smart for years.

The biggest question: Can Georgia slow down Russell? This could be the deciding factor.

Alabama's offense is becoming increasingly difficult to defend because Russell can beat a defense in multiple ways. Against Mississippi State, he threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown.

If Georgia allows Russell to get comfortable early, Alabama could put up a big number.

But Georgia's defense is talented enough to make that a major challenge.

The Bulldogs have also shown an ability to control games offensively. Against Vanderbilt, Georgia converted 7 of 10 third downs and averaged 7.1 yards per play.

Home field could be decisive This is where I give Alabama the slight advantage.

The game is being played in Tuscaloosa, and this will be Georgia's second road game of the season.

For a matchup this evenly balanced, home-field advantage matters.

Alabama also enters the game with tremendous confidence after dominating a ranked Mississippi State team on the road.

Georgia, however, has plenty of confidence of its own. The Bulldogs are 5–0 and have been one of the nation's most complete teams.

My prediction I expect this to be a close, physical SEC battle, with neither team pulling away early.

Georgia has enough talent to win this game, and I would not be surprised at all if the Bulldogs leave Tuscaloosa with a victory.

But right now, Alabama gets my pick.

Prediction: Alabama 31, Georgia 27 The deciding factors are Alabama's explosive passing attack, Russell's ability to create plays, and the home-field advantage at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

My confidence level: Alabama 55% — Georgia 45%.

This is not a prediction that Alabama is clearly the better team. It is a prediction that, right now, Alabama has just enough advantages to win one of the biggest games of the 2026 regular season.

And if the game comes down to the final possession, don't be surprised if we're watching one of the most memorable Alabama–Georgia finishes in years.
